Picnic Reservations

The 2024 picnic season will run from Saturday, June 1st through Sunday, September 15th for any seven-hour block of time between 10:00 AM - 7:00 PM at Possumtown and Riverside park pavilions. Picnic events are limited to 200 people.

In-person reservations were held on Saturday, February 3rd from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM at The YMCA at the Piscataway Community Center (YPCC); however, reservations can still be made by contacting the Recreation Department at (732) 562-2382 and scheduling an appointment. 

Before you decide to submit a request, please read the Picnic Rules & Regulations carefully, as this document must be signed upon approval of the picnic permit. 


  • Picnic Permits are $250 each
    • Alcohol Permits (optional) are $150 each and must be applied for no less than 10 days prior to your picnic. Alcohol permit requests will not be considered less than 10 business days prior to your picnic.
  • Cash payments are NOT accepted; we only accept checks or money orders made payable to the Township of Piscataway.
  • Reservation requests are on a first-come, first-served basis.
    • We do not offer reservations on holidays or holiday weekends.
  • Only Township residents, businesses, and community organizations may apply for a permit. An ID and proof of residency are required when making a request.
    • The submission of more than one (1) request per family, individual department of a business, or organization is prohibited.
    • No Piscataway resident, business, or organization may submit a request on behalf of any person/business/organization not residing in or based in Piscataway.
  • On the day of your reservation...
    • The "host" must be present at all times of the picnic, is solely responsible for their guests, and is the only authorized person permitted to bring alcohol if an alcohol permit has been requested. 
      • Any host who violates the picnic rules and regulations will have his or her picnic immediately cancelled by the park attendant with no exceptions.
    • You must have your copy of the reservation form and, if applicable, alcohol permit with you for the park attendant to verify.
  • Picnics cannot begin until 10:00 AM and there is a seven (7) hour maximum duration. This time includes any set-up and clean-up your event requires.
  • Ordinance No. 19-29 strictly prohibits smoking & vaping on Township-owned property, including parking lots.
