Mediation In Our Community Obtaining

Piscataway Township participates in the Middlesex County Mediation Program.  This program is an alternative course to handle cases like neighbor disputes, noise issues and other cases that are not so much of a criminal nature.  You may come to the Violations window and ask to fill out a Complaint, as with formal criminal charges you will need to know the person's name and address. You will then be given a court date, on that date if the Judge feels that your cases can be handles through mediation you will have a mediation hearing, with a State Certified Mediator.  This session is held in the Court room at 555 Sidney Road, Piscataway. The session hours are always scheduled on a Monday at 5:30pm.(no exceptions).

If you are summoned to mediation you must appear. If you enter into an agreement, this agreement is considered a legal document and must be upheld.

***IF ALL PARTIES REACH AN AGREEMENT DURING MEDIATION NO FORMAL COURT APPEARANCE IS REQUIRED, AND THE CHARGES WILL BE DISMISSED IN OPEN COURT BY THE JUDGE.

***IF NO AGREEMENT HAS BEEN MADE DURING MEDIATION THE CASE/CASES WILL BE REFERRED BACK TO MUNICIPAL COURT AND YOUR CASE WILL BE HEARD BY THE JUDGE.
