The Middlesex County Office of Health Services office at Piscataway Town Hall is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.; Monday - Friday.

Child Health Programs

Comprehensive well child services are available for families with no health insurance who meet the income criteria. These clinic sessions are community based and include childhood immunizations. For more information and appointments please call (732) 745-3100.

Retail Food and Beverage License

Any fixed or mobile establishment that serves, stores, handles or provides food or drink to the public, with or without charge, is required to obtain a Retail Food and Beverage License. The license is renewable every year. Fees vary depending upon the seating capacity and square footage of the establishment.  Please click on the Health License Forms/Applications link on the top-left section of this page for more information. The Middlesex County Office of Health Services inspectors are available to field complaints and routinely inspect food establishments.

Public Bathing License

All public bathing facilities must be licensed by the Health Department annually. Seasonal licenses are $325 for pools, spas or wading pools. Seasonal permits shall be issued no earlier than May 15 and shall expire no later than September 15. Year round or annual pool licenses, spa or wading pools are $500. Annual pool licenses expire on December 31. If the license isn't renewed by January 1st a $120/month late fee in addition to the initial application/licensing fee will be assessed. Health Inspections

Piscataway contracts with the Middlesex County Office of Health Services (MCOHS) to provide comprehensive public health services. Their mission is to promote and protect good health and prevent disease, improve access to health services, and provide health services with efficiency to improve the health of all Middlesex County residents. The Inspection Division of the MCOHS performs various types of inspections throughout the year. It is the goal of the Inspection division that every food establishment, public swimming pool, and body art facility be inspected twice a year. All inspections are conducted by Registered Environmental Health Specialists who are licensed by the State of New Jersey. Septic Permits

The fee for review of each application to construct or alter an individual subsurface sewage disposal system is one hundred and sixty-five dollars ($165) which includes witnessing soil logs and percolation tests, review of engineer plans and inspection during construction. The fee shall be payable upon the filing of the application. Checks are to be made out to Middlesex County Office of Health Services. Acceptance of this fee in no way grants approval for construction or alterations. The applicant agrees to conform to the provisions of the State of New Jersey regulations. Plans must be submitted and any questions directed to Middlesex County Office of Health Services' (MCOHS) Environmental Division, 13-15 Kennedy Blvd., East Brunswick, NJ 08816. Well Permits

The fee for review of each application to locate and construct a water system is one hundred and sixty-five dollars ($165). Checks are to be made out to Middlesex County Office of Health Services. Acceptance of this fee in no way grants approval for locating or constructing a water system. The applicant agrees to conform to the provisions of the State of New Jersey regulations known as “Standards for Construction of Public Non-Community and Non-Public Water Systems” (NJ Administration Code 7:10-12.1 through 7:10-12.43 inclusive). Plans must be submitted and any questions directed to the Middlesex County Office of Health Services' (MCOHS) Environmental Division, 13-15 Kennedy Blvd., East Brunswick, NJ 08816.
