A tree removal permit is required when removing any tree larger than 3” in caliper. 

The caliper of a tree is defined as the diameter of a tree measured at a point on the trunk, one foot from ground level. 

The following exemptions apply:

1. Trees located on a tract of land, one acre or less, in all single family residential zones if said tract of land has an existing residential building located thereon.
2. Trees growing on commercial nursery tracts or orchards.
