Wahler Uses Diplomacy to Get Local Jobs

Piscataway Mayor Brian C. Wahler meets with Canadian Ambassador to the United States David MacNaughton

January 26, 2018 – At the Canadian Embassy to the United States last night, Piscataway Mayor Brian C. Wahler spoke with Canadian Ambassador David MacNaughton about ways in which good paying manufacturing jobs may be brought to central New Jersey through cooperation between our two countries.

The talk between Wahler and MacNaughton was at an embassy event held in conjunction with the U.S. Conference of Mayors winter meeting in Washington, DC.

“The key to boosting our local economy is to have high salaried jobs for all types of workers available for Piscataway residents,” Wahler said.  “When we cooperate with our neighbors, we can get good things done and improve the quality of life in our community.”

The discussion coincided with the location of a facility by the Canadian company Cascades, Inc. in Piscataway.  The tissue and packaging products company is refurbishing an abandoned chemical factory in the Township into an $80 million, 400,000 square foot facility that is expected to create 120 permanent local jobs with an average salary of $75,000 and medical benefits.
